NATIONAL BOUNCE BACK MONTH

NATIONAL BOUNCE BACK MONTH

National Bounce Back Month is celebrated each year in February. For an entire month, we encourage people to forgive themselves for abandoning their resolutions. Instead, we invite people to boldly recommit to and reconnect with their health goals for the New Year so they can feel better and be better.

#NationalBounceBack Month

Every year, nearly 80% of New Year’s resolutions are abandoned, especially those to eat better, become mentally and physically fit, and shed weight. In fact, most people tend to give up within the first month. National Bounce Back Month invites everyone to start over in February with renewed commitment, excitement, and optimism. February is an ideal time to forgive yourself for falling off track and love yourself while you reconnect to your visions of a healthier you.

Let’s face it, at one point or another, we all face unexpected stumbling blocks. Those major life transitions may lead us to “forget” our good intentions to have healthy habits while we grapple with our challenges. But hitting rock bottom, eating badly, and skipping self-care can be transformative.

CELEBRATING NATIONAL BOUNCE BACK MONTH

National Bounce Back Month is about much more than sticking to New Year's resolutions. It's also about picking yourself up after you've neglected your healthy goals. To help you take good care of your physical and mental health, here’s an easy checklist to recalibrate, reset, and refocus. We want you to greet each day with calm confidence so you can succeed in the new year.

  1. Express gratitude. Appreciate your precious, one-and-only body and life first thing in the morning and throughout the day. Research shows that practicing gratitude regularly can lead to many benefits, including improved mental and physical health, better sleep, and greater life satisfaction.

  2. Claim Success. See yourself as a person who appreciates wholesome foods and enjoys exercising. When you take this can-control attitude and envision yourself having a healthy lifestyle, you will triumph.

  3. Prepare for temptations. Whenever you go to social events, parties, family functions, grocery stores, or even gas stations, expect that you may be tempted. Plan exactly what you’ll do if temptation strikes when you’re out and about in the Junk Foods Jungle. Breathe in and out five times, delay for 10 minutes (promising yourself not to indulge), or step outdoors for a brief walk.

  4. Before you indulge, ask yourself “why.” Whenever you want to reach for sugar-filled cookies or polish off a bag of ultra-processed chips, look within. What’s eating you that makes you want to eat or overeat? After all, knowledge is power, as philosopher Sir Francis Bacon said centuries ago.

  5. Forgive yourself if you slip. Above all, be kind to yourself if you grab carbage (carbohydrate garbage). Studies shows that self-compassion may lead to more health-promoting behaviors such as healthy eating and physical activity. You also may experience reduced pain and anxiety, better overall physical health, and a greater quality of life.

NATIONAL BOUNCE BACK MONTH HISTORY

National Bounce Back Month was founded by Bounce Back Boldly Coach Connie Bennett in 2026. Each year, in early February, people are encouraged to recommit to their New Year's resolutions to maintain a healthy lifestyle. The National Day Calendar Registrar approved this monthly celebration in 2026.

About the Founder

Connie Bennett is a former carbs addict, sought-after transformational speaker, Bounce Back Boldly Coach, TEDx presenter, and author of the bestselling books Sugar Shock!, Beyond Sugar Shock, and I Blew My Diet! Now What? She is a certified health coach (Institute of Integrative Nutrition, life coach (iPEC), DreamBuilder Coach (Brave Thinking Institute), EFT practitioner (EFT Universe), frequent podcast interviewee, and journalist. She is now dedicated to helping people discover why they ate badly and what fast, easy, science-based tools can help them Bounce Back Boldly so they can become their best, boldest, brightest selves.

Bennett became intrigued by the concept of bouncing back when she mindlessly shoveled in ultra-processed carbs (carbage or carb garbage) after losing her mother. She quickly packed on 21 pounds, developed many health issues, and felt horribly ashamed. Her curiosity was ignited. For the next seven years, she dove into the research to discover 21 reasons so many of us eat badly and then uncovered FEASTS (Fast, Easy, Awesome, Simple, Tested Strategies) to help her and other people take back their power so they can Bounce Back Boldly.
