NATIONAL MOSCATO DAY
We raise our glass on May 9 and toast National Moscato Day! Moscato, or Muscat in Italian, is one of the oldest known varieties of grapes grown in the world. Here is a toast to one of the most loved wines across the world.

Moscato is one of the oldest known grape varieties dating back to ancient Greece, where it was likely called "Anathelicon Moschaton." Though the grape has ancient Greek ties, Moscato is strongly tied to Italy, specifically in northwest Italy. In fact, the sweet, low-alcohol Moscato d'Asti is a signature wine of this area.
The Moscato grape ranges in color from white to almost black. Its flavor varies, too, from sweet to dry. Winemakers use this quite versatile grape to make everything from sparkling and dessert wines to dry and floral wines. Moscato wine encompasses a range of styles, from the lightly sparkling and sweet to dry versions that include rosé Moscatos, and even dessert Moscatos.
Moscato wines are known for their intensely aromatic and fruity character. Common notes include floral aromas like orange blossom and honeysuckle, along with fruit flavors such as peach, apricot, grape, and sometimes citrus. While Italy remains a key producer of Moscato grapes, they are grown and enjoyed worldwide. The unique aromas and varying sweetness make it a popular choice, especially among newer wine drinkers.

HOW TO OBSERVE NATIONAL MOSCATO DAY
Prepare a nice plate of fresh cheeses and fruit. Grab a bottle of your favorite Moscato and pour a glass to enjoy the day. Invite friends to share a bottle of Moscato (yes, you can share) or attend a wine tasting. Wine tastings are a great way to learn about wines and their best pairings. (Remember always to drink responsibly and never to drink and drive.) Use #MoscatoDay and #NationalMoscatoDay to share on social media to show how you're celebrating National Moscato Day.
