#NationalAlphabetMagnetDay

Have you ever spent the morning rearranging the alphabet magnets on your fridge while sipping your coffee? Or perhaps watched your child practice the alphabet while shuffling the colorful letters at your feet? If so, you might celebrate National Alphabet Magnet Day every day without even realizing it!

In 1972, Fisher-Price first released the School Days Desk. This clever small plastic case served dual functions as both storage and a desk. Beneath its chalkboard top, the desk held word cutouts and magnetic plastic letters. However, magnetic letters started a decade before that when inventor Samuel Hardcastle developed magnetic molded letters for use in the space industry. These sets included plastic or wooden letters with magnets attached to the backs.

Following the release of the School Days Desk, these colorful magnetic letters made their way onto our refrigerators. In the decades to come, they evolved into a fun and decorative way to leave short messages, experiment with wordplay, or even express poetic thoughts. National Alphabet Magnet Day celebrates this intriguing history and invites everyone to get creative with magnetic letters.
