NATIONAL SINGLES WEEK
NATIONAL SINGLES WEEK
National Singles Week falls on the third week of September each year. For an entire week, we celebrate those who are living the singles lifestyle and show you why being single is more than being alone.
#NationalSinglesWeek
According to the U.S. Census Bureau, about 47% of the adults in the U.S. are single. Interestingly, there are more single women than single men, too. Whether by choice, divorce, or widowed, being single is a common lifestyle lived by nearly half our population.
Culturally, there is a big misconception about people who are single. We sometimes question if there is something wrong with the person which leads to the stereotype of the person being undesirable. We are on a mission to change those misconceptions and show you why being single isn't necessarily a bad thing.
Single vs. Taken
In order to determine which is better, we thought we should take a brief look at the benefits of being single or in a relationship. Let's take a look at the pro's and con's of being single:
PRO: You have more time to do what you want or what you enjoy.
CONS: You may or may not be doing things alone more often.PRO: You to pursue your own goals and interests without worrying about your choices affecting another person.
CON: Sharing special moments with a significant other may leave you feeling lonely or sad.PRO: All of the choices you make impact your life and no one else's.
CON: Your choices may be erratic or dangerous because you have no one to be the voice of reason by your side.PRO: You are calmer and less stressed because relationships can cause stress, times two.
CON: You may find it difficult to work through stressful situations with others because you are never given the opportunity to problem solve through a relationship.PRO: You use your time and energy as you see fit, turning down events or activities because they are more aimed at couples.
CON: You may be excluded in events or activities because you don't have a partner.
It's hard to determine if being single is better than being in a relationship. In fact, the answer will vary from person-to-person. Whatever path you are on, walk it with confidence and a smile!
